The 7^th of lunar month is the Chinese Valentine’s day,
this is a famous love story about the girl,
who is a weaving maid, daughter of the king, live in heaven,
and a boy, who is a poor cowherd, living in the earth.
They love each other so much,
yet by many forbidden reasons, not able to see each other.
Only once a year the magpies make a bridge from earth to heaven,
so the boy can meet the girl.
The weaving maid is known as the star ‘Vega’
and the cowherd is know as the star: ‘Altair’;
in the lunar June 7^th,
Vega and Altair is most close in distance in the milky way.

Today is the day of Lunar 7^th of June,

why don’t you look up to your sky in the evening,

and find out if Altair and Vega is closer?

Taiwan is the biggest off-shore island by the side of China with a mountain-peak Yu-Shan, no-shorter than the highest of Mount-Everest in the Himalaya.

Taiwan’s scenery is unique, Master Lan, Pi-Shan tries to depict the beauty of this island by his brushes.

Any Taiwanese who does not know Yu-Shan is no Taiwanese; Any world traveler who had not seen Yu-Shan, is no traveler.

An American ambassador to Taiwan was asked to climb-up to the peak with the local president. The Ambassador said: “Ok, I will climb-up the mountain together with you, but, you must not go up in a helicopter, and let me do all the climbing”.

Biographic sketch of a Master Chinese Painter Lan, Pi-Shan, ---A promising and rising painter in the orient.

Mr. Lan, Pi-Shan, was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1941. He loves to paint the Chinese water-ink painting, since he was a small kid. He tried to learn the Chinese art from the greatest contemporary masters whoever he could approach, such as Huang Jun Bi, Chang Da-Chien, Hu, Nien-Tsu, among some others.

For several decades, he practices the art of his trade, many, many hours per day, just like any champions golfer, or pianist and the like who would practice his game with intelligence and effort laboriously. He creatively tries the flexibility of the Chinese water-ink brushes with various, unmoduating ways, of changing the thickness, wet-dryness, swift-and slowness to achieve his new, multi-dimensional, perceptional results. He has attained some state of the art edge, which can be seen in this album, a collection of his international exhibitions on landscape successfully and held in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Hong-Kong and China.

I am keeping some of his current paintings, as well as taking class lessons from him. I am confident that his works will become very valuable soon.

On the second day of December, Sunday, 2007, gathering together in the Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, in Taipei city, were some 15 most famous Chinese Brush Painters to demonstrate their skills and techniques of painting, openly to the general public who wants to observe how the Chinese paintings are being done.

The interactions between Chinese scholars in Tang Dynasty and Buddhists in India, seems to be consisting of mainly by Chinese paintings and Indians’ philosophies. The Indian philosophies thus got spreading all over Asia, and as a result, through Chinese brushes Indians, then looked more Chinese than Indians.

The basic philosophy behind the Chinese Water-ink paintings of Landscapes lies in the Ancient Chinese perceptions in the identities of humanities and the great natural envelopment. What the ancient Chinese believed and advocated were that human being came from the universe, therefore men should identify themselves with the great nature. What was know in Chinese saying was (Tien-Jen-Har-Yee, or 天人合一) meaning men and nature belong to one thing. Human affairs are not permanent, or great only, the nature is eternal. Men are small and short-duration. Therefore in Chinese Landscape paintings, men, or anything men-made, such as huts, boats, etc are always small, and simple and humble in comparison with its surroundings. No painters would exaggerate human being, and himself. The brush strokes to express the simple scenes should always remain simple. Simplicity is beauty.
